Greene County voters are encouraged to attend upcoming public forums to get to know local candidates. Rick Morain will be moderator.
The first forum will feature candidates for Iowa House District 47 and is slated for Thursday, Oct. 4, at 7 pm at the Greene County Elementary School cafeteria. Republican candidate Phil Thompson, Democrat candidate David Weaver and Libertarian candidate Patrick Shaw will participate.
The second forum will feature candidates for Greene County offices and is slated for Thursday, Oct. 11, at 7 pm, also at the elementary school cafeteria. Libertarian Thomas Laehn, who is running unopposed for county attorney, and Democrat Marcia Tasler, who is running unopposed for county recorder, will speak first.
They’ll be followed by county treasurer candidates Democrat Donna Lawson and Republican Katlynn Gannon-Mechaelsen, and county supervisor candidates Republican Dawn Rudolph and Democrat Patti Naylor (District 2) and Republican Tom Contner and Democrat Melissa Frederick (District 3).
Candidates will introduce themselves, take questions from Morain, and then field questions from the public. There is no charge – all are invited.
The forums are hosted by the Jefferson Rotary Club as a service to the community.
